The Artist

Karen was born and raised in Zimbabwe and was inspired from a very young age by the natural and unspoiled beauty of the African bushveld. Since emigrating to South Africa in 1984, she has lived in regions varying from the lush bushveld of the Kalahari to the stark but fascinating shores of the West Coast.

Most of her work focuses on producing pieces that embrace a bold, contemporary aesthetic. Working in oils and acrylics, she works primarily from photographic references, and an intuitive understanding of her subjects. Her realistic style and unique approach, coupled with an inspired ability to see and share beauty, captures the character of the subject and the essence of a moment with palettes chosen from close artistic observation.

Clients are often exclusive art collectors with an immaculate style sense. Many of her works hang in both private and corporate collections in South Africa as well as in countries such as England, Ireland, the United States, Brazil, Iran, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Austria, Sweden, Finland and China.

Currently residing in Morningside, Sandton in Gauteng,. Karen paints on a full-time basis and regularly exhibits at the Rosebank Rooftop Market in Johannesburg, Gauteng , as well as at many festivals and shows around South Africa. She accepts commissions and updates this site with new works on a regular basis.
